Nooki is built on a simple principle: an app for parents in a hurry should not be in the data business. This policy explains what little information the app handles, and why.

Who is responsible

The data controller for Nooki is its author, Youssef Faraby (Helsinki, Finland). For anything privacy-related, contact [email protected].

No account, no profile

Nooki has no sign-up, no login and no user accounts. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other identifying information through the app.

Location

With your permission, Nooki uses your device's location to show your position on the map, sort places by distance and pick the nearest changing room. Your location is processed on your device only — it is never sent to us or to any third party by the app.

Favourites and settings

Your saved places and language choice are stored locally on your device. They are not synced to any server and are removed when you uninstall the app.

Map tiles and photos

The map is drawn from OpenStreetMap tiles, and venue photos are loaded from public image hosts such as Wikimedia Commons. When a tile or photo is fetched, that server receives standard network request data (such as your IP address) and the name of the tile or photo requested, which reveals roughly which area you are looking at. Beyond that request the app sends nothing: no identifier, no account, no precise GPS position. The facility database itself ships inside the app — search and browsing need no network.

Analytics and advertising

Nooki contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising and no third-party trackers.

Navigation hand-off

When you tap Navigate, the app opens your device's maps application (Google Maps on Android, Apple Maps on iOS). From that point, that application's own privacy policy applies.

When you contact us

If you email us — for example to suggest a place or ask a question — we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to handle your message and keep the correspondence no longer than needed for that purpose. We never add you to any mailing list.

Your rights

Because the app itself collects no personal data, the only personal data we may hold about you is email correspondence. Under the GDPR you can ask us what we hold, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi) if you think we have handled your data wrongly. Just email us for any of these.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new "last updated" date.
